Our name

Filumena is a name with layered meaning, rooted in the Greek philoumene, meaning 'beloved,' though it has also been interpreted from the Latin filia and lumen as 'daughter of light.' It is also the name of a saint traditionally honoured as a young martyr, celebrated for her unwavering faith, courage, and purity in the face of adversity.

We chose this name because it captures our purpose: to create and share work that brings light into the world. Light that illuminates truth, inspires hope, and reminds us of the beauty woven into everyday life. For us, this light finds its ultimate source in Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, whose truth and love guide everything we create.

Just as Saint Filumena’s life became a witness to faith, we hope the stories, books, and creative expressions we share will also reflect purposeful living and grace.

About Caroline Chukwura

Caroline Chukwura is a storyteller at heart. Through words, images, and creative expression, she seeks to illuminate truth, beauty, and meaning in everyday life, all through the lens of her Christian faith.

With over fifteen years shaping narratives across global development and media, Caroline has worked with organisations including WaterAid, GIZ, BBC Media Action, TechnoServe, and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). She holds a Master of Communication degree from The Hague University of Applied Sciences, The Hague, Netherlands. Beyond strategy and campaigns, what drives her is simple but deep: a belief that God has given stories the power to heal, connect, and transform.

Passionate about youth development, Caroline writes the stories she wished she had as a teenager. Stories that meet hard questions honestly, speak biblical truth, and guide young people towards purpose and hope. Embracing innovative tools, including AI-assisted writing, she thoughtfully directs every element of her narratives, from scriptural references to character journeys, ensuring each one authentically reflects God's truth and speaks to today's teens. Her debut book, Wait! Let's Talk About It: Love, Sex and Purity for Teens, invites teenagers and families into open, faith-filled conversations about love, identity, and purpose in a noisy world.

As founder of Filumena Collection, Caroline weaves faith into every creative pursuit: books that reflect God's truth, fashion that honours beauty and sustainability, and images that capture light and meaning. For her, creativity is ministry, a way to point others to Christ and say: God sees you, you matter, and there is hope in Him.

When she is not creating, Caroline enjoys travelling, experimenting in the kitchen, and pausing to notice the extraordinary in ordinary moments. She lives in Abuja, Nigeria, where she continues to reflect, create, and share stories that inspire faith, growth, and purpose.
